Hi my name is Cherie and I am fundraising for The Caulton Family.

Just two days after her 10th birthday, Sophie Caulton was diagnosed with a pilocytic astrocytoma brain tumour following many months of episodes of vomiting, headaches and blurry vision. Thankfully, the tumour was able to be removed, and later diagnosed as benign. However, Sophie’s brain was unable to drain the fluid on its own. This required a second surgery to insert a shunt. While the shunt insertion was a success, her prognosis was further complicated by the development of Posterior Fossa Syndrome severely affecting her vision, speech and motor skills. As a result of this syndrome, Sophie may be left with deficits and her recovery significantly slowed.

Sophie is the sweetest, most kind hearted ray of light. She is always smiling, makes everyone laugh and loves to have fun. Sophie loves the beach, surfing, singing, listening to music, playing teachers, her friends and baking. Currently, she is undergoing intense rehab to regain her motor skills, vision and speech. While she continues to make small improvements each day, Sophie will continue to require intensive physical, occupational and speech therapy for the foreseeable future, with the hopes that she will one day make her way back to former self.
