Ahoy there!
My name is Zoe and I am 16-year-old year 11 school student from Western Australia.
I have created this page to raise the sum of $650 to complete the full fee required to sail on the Leeuwin Sailing Ship for the Youth Ocean Adventure voyage from Busselton to Albany. It is a week-long journey in January 2023. So far I have received a financial contribution from my parents and also from a generous Leeuwin sponsor.
The remainder ($650) I must raise myself and thus I have created this page.
Now let me tell you a little bit about me...
One of my favourite things to do is play my saxophone. I play in a school and community band so I have two rehearsals a week. My second favourite thing... is to play my flute. So already you can see that I cost my parents a lot of money.
My third favourite thing to do is roller skate. I train and compete in Artistic roller skating competitions. Up until this year, I was training and skating up to 4 times a week. This year due to study and music commitments I skate once a week. Good skates are quite expensive as are the private coaching lessons. My parents are very supportive of my extracurricular activities and I am very grateful to them!!
I am currently completing my Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award after completing my Silver 6 months ago. The gold award requires participants to complete an Adventurous Journey - a trek or exploration or journey of at least 4 nights and 5 days with people you have not met before.
For this I have chosen to do the Leeuwin Youth Explorer Voyage:
I hope to be sailing on this great ship in January 2023:-
Last year for my silver award I spent 5 days and 4 nights on the Bibblumun track, carrying all my food and bedding in my 10kg pack and camping out with 5 people I had never met who quickly became good hiking buddies. That's me in the light-coloured jacket, 2nd from the right.
This year I am very keen to go sailing for the VERY FIRST TIME. The Leeuwin Youth Voyage does not require participants to have had any sailing experience before. That's me! A perfect candidate.
This last year has been about challenging myself and getting out of my head which is clogged with ATAR tests, assignments and exam information. Here I am studying at the kitchen table.
In July I took part in the YMCA Youth Parliament 2022. A huge personal challenge for me as one of the youngest people to participate. It was a full week of writing bills, debating and making speeches in Parliament and trying hard to look like I understood everything that is going on! It was an amazing week and from that experience, I am more excited to challenge myself and spend time with other young people and grow to become a better, wiser, more useful human being. The following picture is me speaking in Parliament as the Youth Member for Bunbury! The one further below is of all of us from Youth Parliament. I am far bottom right standing next to the tall guys with blond hair.
My ultimate goal is to study psychology and music therapy and help young people to be happy and confident and live their best lives. I love spending time with other people and I truly empathise with those who are going through tough times. I like to do what I can to make people feel better about themselves and the world around them.
I also really like camels. Here are some camel biscuits my mum made for my 16th birthday :)
So if you would like to help me aboard the good ship Leeuwin for a week of sailing (and climbing up the high mast and scrubbing the deck)...
... I encourage you to donate!

P.S The page states my dad Robert Wallin is the beneficiary - because I am under 18 I had to nominate an adult to receive the donations on my behalf. All donations are going to the Leeuwin! Dad's getting nought I'm afraid!!
