If you are lucky enough to know Dara and her children, you know that she has the kindest, most generous heart. She is always the first person to step forward to help others, even when she is going through hard times of her own. Over and over again, she uses her voice to lift up and advocate for the people who need it the most, especially those facing homelessness, living in poverty, and queer and trans youth. She is a force of nature, and we are so lucky to have her in our community.

For many years however, while single parenting her three children, Dara has also been dealing immense challenges, including complex medical concerns for her kids.

Now it is Dara herself who needs our support. For the past two years, she has been battling the painful, exhausting, and frustrating symptoms of long Covid. She is no longer able to work, and now is forced to depend on the limited support of income assistance to meet her children’s needs. This is putting enormous stress on Dara and her family every single day.
