Please help a 19 year old from Gaza take care of his family

Hi, my name is Katey. I’m a professional photographer in Australia.

I’ve created this fundraiser to help a young man I know called Abdulrahim, who is currently displaced in Deir al-Balah in Gaza. (Abdulrahim is a friend of a friend of mine called Shahed who also lives in Gaza, and I manage her fundraiser, too.)

Abdulrahim’s father is one of the many civilians kidnapped by the Israeli military without any charges or reasons given, and whose whereabouts are unknown.

It is documented by multiple reputable news organisations that civilians are being rounded up and tortured or killed in Gaza by the Israeli military, including doctors, paramedics and children, and Abulrahim, at only 19 years old, must now must provide for his whole family, whilst worrying about his father and trying to survive an ongoing genocide.

His story in his own words is below:

”My name is Abdulrahim Abu Ameera, and I’m a young man, not yet 20 years old, trying to keep my family alive in the hardest times we have ever faced.”

“We are six people: my two younger brothers, my only sister, my mother, and my father. But our father was taken by the occupation forces from our home in northern Gaza. Since then, we have had no news of him. Not even the Red Cross could give us information about his whereabouts.”

“I now bear the responsibility of supporting my family in the most unimaginable conditions. We were forced to flee our home and now live in a flimsy tent that doesn’t protect us from the harsh cold of winter or the scorching heat of summer. Every day is a battle to find food and water to keep my family alive.”



“No one at my age should be living like this, but I am doing everything I can to ensure that my family survives. I am trying to find any kind of work to provide for them, but it’s never enough. We urgently need your help to survive these dark times.”

The money raised through this fundraiser will help the family buy shelter, food, water and medical supplies. At such a young age, it is difficult for Abdulrahim to work to try to earn money in the absence of his father. There may be medical expenses once his father is found, too. Plus future costs like paying for necessities as refugees outside of Gaza, or just rebuilding in Gaza once there is a permanent ceasefire. Currently, most aid for Gaza is currently being blocked by Israel, and most of the limited food Israel allows in must be purchased at increasingly inflated prices. Often fresh water costs money, too.
