Help A Firefighter Battle Cancer
Donation protected
My friend Matt “Hops” Scott has been fighting “Renal Cell Carcinoma” (Kidney Cancer) for about a year. In February 2024, he was told there was a large mass in his left kidney. In May, he had surgery to remove his entire kidney. The pathology report that followed revealed he was Stage 3. There have been a few nodes that have appeared on his lungs since surgery. Immunotherapy is the only option for treatment at a hefty price tag of $30,000 per visit, which is monthly. He also takes medication that helps aid the treatment, but it too is expensive at $1,000 per day. He has insurance, but as we all know, there are limitations.
“Hops” is a firefighter with many years of service as a volunteer in our local community. He also served as Deputy Chief for several of those years before the cancer diagnosis changed his life forever. His leadership and dedication with the fire department are well known. He has won several awards for Firefighter of the Year, which is voted by peers.
This process has taken a toll on his mental health in addition to his physical conditions. It is my hope to raise money to help ease some of the financial burdens of the treatment or for whatever he may need. He’s made plenty of sacrifices to help others, and so now it’s our turn to help him.
Thank you! #HopsStrong
