Please Help Alex Defeat AML

On January 11, 2022, Alex was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer called Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). Alex is an incredible 15-year-old kid who is active, strong, funny and vibrant. Alex is very busy and responsible, having just applied for his first job (at Publix), completing his online driver’s education class (yes, he’s on the road!), all while taking a full load of advanced classes as a sophomore at Strawberry Crest High School, and preparing for Spring Football tryouts. He’s one of those great kids who excels at home, in the classroom, and on the playing field.

Unfortunately, Alex’s plans have now been put on hold to face the biggest fight of his life. Alex faces 6 months of aggressive inpatient chemotherapy at St. Joe’s Children’s Hospital to fight this terrible disease. His loving parents will support him in every way possible, including rotating their own work schedules, maintaining care for their other three minor children (brothers Quincy and Landin, and sister Harper), and most importantly, being by Alex’s side throughout this battle.

This is just the beginning of Alex’s fight against AML. He will require extensive treatment in the upcoming months while he is hospitalized. He is a fighter, carrying a healthy dose of energy, determination and love into this battle. But the one thing Alex lacks is funding for his treatment. While the family does carry health insurance, the max out-of-pocket limit is daunting for a two-income working family with four minor children. Additional expenses such as travel for treatment and unknown future care will likely deal a massive financial blow to this beautiful family. All funds raised here will go directly to paying the out-of-pocket medical bills and expenses not covered by insurance. Anything counts, and is deeply appreciated by me, the wonderful family, and most importantly, by Alex.
