Please Help Amy Barker fight Stage 3 Breast Cancer

Now this is a story all about how Amy’s life got flipped-turned upside down… And I’d like to take a minute just sit right there, I’ll tell you how Amy is soon to become the girl with no hair
Now the question is could you read that without hearing the music!?
My name is Amber Hady and I have been friends with Amy Barker for the last 26 years. (Funny part is when we first met my last name was Barker and hers wasn’t, but that’s a longer story!) I am running the fundraising for her and going through this with her every step of the way.
Amy was initially diagnosed on November 8th, 2023 with stage 3 Infiltrating Ductal Breast Cancer. She has 2 fairly large tumors in her left breast. Along with the tumors she was told the cancer has spread to her lymph nodes. She was told she has the HER2 type cancer and the oncologist has a plan to start treating her. She was given multiple biopsies to test and make sure they knew what they were dealing with. Now there seems to be some discrepancies in the findings. Currently we are waiting on the most recent biopsy results to confirm or deny those discrepancies and adjust the treatment plan accordingly.
The current overall treatment plan is to start with 4-6 months of aggressive chemotherapy every three weeks down in Madison, WI.(Depending on the results of the biopsy, we have been warned it could be more frequent than every three weeks.) During those 4-6 months they will monitor the progress of the chemotherapy and make a plan for surgery. Whether that is a lumpectomy or mastectomy remains unclear at this time. After the surgery she will continue with chemotherapy most likely for another 6 months as well as get radiation treatments. The bigger picture is looking to be at least a year of fighting this.
Amy had her first round of chemo treatment on December 21st, 2023. It was a very long day which started with a small procedure of installing a port in her chest. The treatment itself went smooth, but the days that followed proved to be very difficult. Today, January 1st was the first day Amy left her home on her own since treatment. (11 days later!) And unfortunately, the second round of chemo is January 11th. (Only 10 days away)
During all of this Amy wants to try and work when she is healthy enough to, but most likely that will not be enough for everyday living. Not to mention the cost of the constant 3 hour round trips to Madison for treatment and doctor appointments.
Anything you might be able to give will help Amy during those times while she is not healthy enough to work as well as help fund the cost it takes to get to treatment and appointments.
Amy is still young and has her whole life ahead of her. She is a single mom of 2 (now both adult) boys. Her youngest son Damian has decided to move back home with her to be her caregiver while finishing his last year of high school online so that she is not living alone.
Amy’s gratitude for everyone who has shown her so much kindness already is unmeasurable! She can’t believe how much people care. Let’s continue to show her love and how much good there still is in this world!
