Please Help Baby Owen

On June 2, 2020, we were blessed with another grandson – Owen Kman. Up until September 16, 2020, we had no reason to believe that he was not the happy healthy beautiful baby boy he appeared to be.
On September 16th, Owen began to pee blood that contained clots. He was taken to a local hospital where, via ultrasound, it was found that he has a mass in his bladder, around 3.5cm in diameter. They decided to send him to the best Children’s hospital in Illinois: Lurie’s Children’s hospital.
Lurie’s has performed several tests and surgeries. The biggest was to remove the tumor from Owen’s bladder. In the first surgery, they were only able to remove part of the tumor because the rest was embedded in his bladder. A second surgery was performed on 9/24/2020 to remove 25% of Owen’s bladder, since the tumor cannot be removed without impacting his bladder.
This poor little guy, at only 3 months old, has had ultrasounds, CT scans, MRI’s, IV’s, PET scans, an ECHO, and a bone marrow biopsy, in addition to pokes and prods for various blood tests. He does have a port that was put in that will at least help with some of those pokes and prods.
The biopsy of the tumor has shown that Owen’s bladder tumor IS cancerous. The tumor is a Malignant Rhabdoid tumor, meaning after surgery, and that area heals, he will have a long road of chemotherapy and some radiation ahead of him. He will require approximately 7 months of chemotherapy and 2 weeks of radiation treatment.
Owen’s parents, Chelsea & Andrew, have been with Owen since he was admitted to Lurie’s.
******UPDATE 9/27/2020
Owen had a blood transfusion today and he got to GO HOME!!!!
This little guy has overcome a HUGE obstacle, but still has a long way to go! A week from tomorrow, he will start 7 months of Chemo and also will have an MRI done to scan his brain and spine to make sure the cancer has not spread there.
Thank you for your prayers and support! Owen and his family appreciate each one of you!
