Please Help Becky & Miguel

Rebecca (Becky) Reagan Betancourt suffered a very serious stroke Friday night (12/10/2021). Miguel, her loving husband, quickly got her to the hospital. The doctors located an active brain bleed on her brain stem. Due to the extreme number of COVID patients in Michigan, the hospital in Port Huron is unable to admit or care for her. All of the ICUs are full of unvaccinated COVID patients -- which is preventing the people who have other emergencies from receiving care. The Port Huron hospital have asked 8 other hospitals in the state if they can take her, and until an hour ago, none had room.

She will be transferred tonight to Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. The current hospital is trying to stabilize her prior to the long ambulance ride. Henry Ford is preparing a neurological medical team to perform immediate surgery when she arrives.

We are unsure of Becky's future. She recognizes her family, but is currently unable to speak. Initially she could not move the left side of her body. After some time in the ER she was able to squeeze Miguel's hand. We aren't sure if the bleeding has stopped, or if it can be reached during surgery.

We are asking for any help with her current and expected medical bills. If surgery is successful, we expect Becky to face a very long road of recovery and treatment. We are hopeful that Becky will come through surgery, but know that the situation is out of our hands. All we can do is hope, pray and try to help the family as much as we can through this difficult time.
