Please help Beth Schiller

My name is Matt, I’m helping raise funds for Beth Schiller. Beth is the mother of one of my best friends, she also happens to be my 1st grade teacher.

Beth has always been one of the strongest people I’ve had the pleasure of knowing. Beth raised 3 boys on a public school educator’s salary, alone. So after molding the minds of multiple generations, she would come home to my best friend Sloan and his twin brothers Aaron and Ben. Aaron and Ben are autistic and needed round the clock support. 2022 has not been kind to Beth; in May, Sloan passed away after years of traumatic brain injuries. Unfortunately tonight, just 6 months later, Beth lost one of her remaining sons, Ben.

Ben was a prolific baker, a happy go lucky guy who Beth also described as flirtatious.

I had a very unique point of view to observe Beth throughout the years. Through one lens, I saw the educator. The teacher who molded minds, attitudes, and behaviors at Sabal Point Elementary School (and other schools including my mom’s in Chicago while my mom was school age). Through the other lens, I watched Beth as she maintained that same cheerful attitude at home, even when Aaron and Ben were especially challenging, or when Sloan and I were getting in trouble at school. Beth had always been a rock.

This is now twice in a year that I have watched that rock crumble. Both Sloan and Ben’s deaths were unexpected. No mother should have to bury a son, let alone two in six months.

The hugs I have felt from Beth over the last six months are those of someone trying to hold on to anything near or dear. Beth needs this community right now. The very same community she gave so much of her life to, I’m calling on to help in such a dark hour. If you ever had Mrs. Schiller as a teacher, if you were friends with Sloan, if you ever had a moment with Aaron and Ben, please help out anyway you can.

I don’t want to say these funds will all be used for memorial arrangements because I believe with all of my heart, Beth deserves more than that. Please consider making a donation, any amount is greatly appreciated.
