Caring for Coco!

The family of Coco Kenyon is asking for your help.

On the night of September 19th, 2022, Coco was subjected to severe abuse and was injured by what her vet care team determined was a thermal event. Coco spent three days at Bay State Emergency Vet getting treatment and care for wounds the veterinarians said they had never seen the likes of before. She is suffering from burns on the top of her head, around her neck, body, back and legs, along with several broken ribs.

After her release from Bay State, Coco was placed in my parents’ care, where she will remain, and we began her follow-up care at West Greenwich Animal Hospital. My parents and the WGAH team have been incredible in taking excellent care of her, but it is a very long road ahead. Coco is currently going for cleaning, debriding of dead skin, and bandage changing at least 2x a week. As Coco’s skin heals, it is contracting and has caused her ear to be in an upright position. She tries to shake her head to get the ear down, but until she has surgery to release the skin, it is stuck that way. The vet bills are almost $ 6k, with at least one surgery still to come.

The individual believed to be responsible for Coco’s injuries is facing three felony counts of Malicious Injury to or Killing of Animals and one misdemeanor count of Unnecessary Cruelty to Animals.

We are focusing on Coco’s recovery and could use all of the help we can get with the costs of her ongoing treatment. Coco has had a pretty “ruff” time but appreciates the love and support she has received thus far. If any funds remain after her care, they will be donated to the RISPCA.
