Hello, my name is Daisy and I am just over 2 years old, as you can see from my photo I am a St Bernard so basically a cuddly teddy bear. I live with my mummy and daddy in Yorkshire and have lived here since March 2023, before that I did not live in a very nice home and because of that my poorly eyes were not taken care of. This means that my pet insurance does not cover my poorly eyes as I already had them when I came to live with my new mummy and daddy.
Two and a half weeks ago I had entropion surgery on both of my eyes, to start of with my mummy and daddy thought the surgery went very well and I was finally going to have eyes that didn't hurt me anymore. This was not the case and after a week I could not see anything and I was walking into walls and furniture. I was taken back to see the vet and it was decided that I needed to have the surgery again as my eyes were still not properly fixed. I had this surgery a week ago, I really do not like it as it makes my eyes hurt and I have to wear a silly cone around my neck which makes my chin very sore as I like to drool alot.
Again my mummy and daddy hoped that this would be the end of it, not only because I had been in alot of pain but because they had spent over £2,500 on my operations. On Saturday just gone my eyes started to hurt very badly and I was whimpering, something my mummy and daddy had not heard me do before, this made them very sad. I also could not see again which made us all very worried. My mummy and daddy took me to see an emergency vet, here I was given some medicine to make me sleepy because some of my eye stitches were now under my eye lids and pressing into my eyes, my eyes are now damaged. My mummy and daddy were told that if I did not have my eyes fixed again very very soon then I would have to have both of my eyes removed.
On Monday 15th January I went to see an eye specialist, I did not like this as I am a bit sick of people poking and looking at my eyes. We were all very sad after this appointment as it was said that I needed another operation, this was also worrisome for mummy and daddy as they had now spent over £3,500 on my eyes and were told that this operation was going to cost a further £4000 and I need to have it this week if I am to keep my eyes.
Like many people my mummy and daddy don't have this money to spend and really need the help from the kind people who are reading this. It is really really important to me too as I am only a young dog and I desperately want to keep my eyes. I cannot imagine a life where I cannot see the fields that I like to run through or the sea that I like to run into, I cannot imagine a life where I can only be walked on a lead because that is the only way to keep me safe and I definitely cannot imagine living a life with everything being dark.
Please find it in your heart to help me keep my eyes, Love Daisy
