Please help Dann get through surgeries.

Hi Everyone, I’m Dann Szymczak, a 28 year veteran of the Chicago service industry. You may have seen me at Exit, Neo, Debonair or most recently Pre-Pandemic, Late Bar. I’m currently over at Frontera Grill, where I’ve been since August of 2021.

Many service industry employees don’t have health insurance available to them or are able to always put money aside for times of emergency. During the Pandemic I, like many others, lost all my savings.

Since August of 2022, I have been coping with GERD/its related symptoms, and experiencing constant nausea, dizziness, stomach issues and general fatigue. Working with my doctor, I followed a food and diet plan along with medication to manage symptoms as best I could.

In the next 2 months I have multiple surgeries to repair: a hiatal hernia, umbilical hernia and inguinal hernia. I’m also having my gallbladder removed to treat my other symptoms,

For the last few months, I’ve had limited capacity or have been completely unable to work due to my illnesses and injuries. Post surgery recoveries will have me off my feet for at least 8 weeks afterwards, making what was already a difficult financial situation even more impossible without help. Every bit of my personal funds and credit were used get through the last three years of a Pandemic world.

Your donations will help me literally cover the basics--Household expenses: food, rent, utilities, car payments...you get the idea. Anything helps with Everything, to keep me going until I can get back to work again.

I hate asking for help, but I love my job and want to get back on my feet to work as soon as possible. Please help me get there if you are able, even if you can only share this post. It means a lot.
