Please help Deb to see her dying mum in the UK

Hello everyone, if you can I urgently need your help.

As lots of you know I am originally from the UK where all of our family still reside. Mum has lived with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) for a number of years. Unfortunately there is no life saving treatment for this horrid disease and over the last 9 months mum's health has deteriorated to the point where yesterday we learnt her life expectancy is approximately 8 weeks.

I have been unable to see mum now for 2 years due to COVID-19 and desperately need to get back to the UK to spend as much quality time with mum before she passes. Even though I speak to her every day it is not the same as being able to see her and give her the constant company she deserves, not to mention lot of hugs. Mum will not see her grandsons again which breaks my heart.

My fund raising target may seem high but COVID-19 has made air travel very expensive. Outbound flights are ok but trying to get back to Australia is hard as there are so few flights. As I need to travel quickly I have to accept the flights that are available.

Car hire in the UK has increased (like a lot places).

Martin will have to work school hours during the time that I am away as our youngest son does not have access to a school bus. This of course will impact our income.

Even though I am in remission from breast cancer, the side effects from ongoing medication has left me unable to work. Treatment and Martin's time off work to be my primary carer during that time swallowed all of our savings.

Pride stopped me asking for financial help then. What I'm asking for now goes against my nature but I really do need your help.
