Please Help Denise and Palo's Vet Bills

Hi, my name is Jim Dalton. I'm making this GoFundMe on behalf of my dear friend Denise Reed and her little boy Palo, who we sadly lost yesterday.

If you have the pleasure and honor of knowing Denise, you know she is one of the most helpful, inspiring, friendly, honest, thoughtful, funniest and most fun people around. She's never without a joke to lighten the mood, wisdom to help her peers, a couch to take the load off, and empathy when it's sorely needed.

She's also the hardest working person I have personally ever met. Lighting the candle at both and sometimes three ends in pursuit of her artistic dreams and endeavors and to support her community. It's practically a joke among us how getting together is almost an impossibility with her when she's not working behind the scenes at Saturday Night Live, brand ambassitoring, shooting gorgeous headshots, and filming last minute auditions for not only herself but her friends and colleagues. And yet she still shows up for her family, blood and chosen, to give you the shirt off her back.

As you are probably well enough aware, the artist's/freelancer's life isn't always the most glamorous or profitable. We all sometimes scrape by just to make ends meet. And when an emergency of this magnitude happens, it can be paralyzing in every way.

When Denise rescued little Palo Santo Reed, she opened her tremendous heart and warm home to this special, loving creature. And as a petsitter and one of his uncles, I can personally say I have never met a cat like him. So gentle, charming, goofy, curious, cute, cuddly, and giving. Like Denise, he was one in a million.

Once he got sick it hit like a bomb, equally quick and devastating. Within 24 hours, he was incapacitated. Tragically, there was no realistic way to extend this beautiful boy's health, and Denise had to make the impossible decision to end his suffering, as well as their time together on this plain. After a year of laughs, adventures, mishaps, and joy, it was over.

Now all that's left is to pick up the pieces and try to go back to some sort of normalcy, which can be near impossible with a hole in your heart like the one Palo left. And to add to the usual expenses, the vet bills (roughly $7,000) are a staggering and sobering reminder of what was lost.
