Please help Dexter Powe buy a car.

Hi all. My name is JoAnn and I have created this GoFundMe page to raise money to support a member of my community, Dexter, who is experiencing challenges in his life right now and could use support.  


For those of you who don’t know Dexter, he lives with the challenges of  Asperger’s syndrome and other medical issues despite this he graduated from Carlsbad High School wherein 2010  he was voted Homecoming King by his peers. He also graduated from Mira Costa College with an AA Degree and is continuing to take classes to pursue his bachelor degree.  


Dexter contributes greatly to his community through his compassion and kindness. Due to some medical problems, he and his mother who has been his caregiver have fallen on hard times and lost the home that they have lived in for more than 20 years.  Dexter is now on his own and has been staying with friends and part-time at the homeless shelter. Dexter currently does not have any family in the area that is able to support him financially so he is supporting himself by collecting recycles to earn some money.  He would like to find a full-time job so he can support himself and his educational goals, however, he needs a car to do so.


I started this GoFundMe to see if we as a community can raise money to help him get a car. He will use the car to get around to look for a job, as well as continue to collect his recycles.  If you know Dexter, you know he is a hardworking young man.
