Donations Toward Don Cyr’s Cancer Treatment Debt

Our family started this GoFundMe account for our brother Don Cyr who is struggling with large medical debt resulting from treatment for bladder cancer in 2021.

Don works at a local fruit warehouse in Yakima and has had medical insurance coverage through his employer. He began chemotherapy as advised by his oncologist to be followed by surgery. Sometime after completing chemotherapy his medical insurance company denied some of the claims. He discovered his employer had decided to drop medical coverage for their seasonal employees effective June 30, 2021. This was partway through his treatments and left him totally responsible for a sizable amount of the cost.

In time Don was able to purchase medical coverage on his own and proceeded to get the necessary life saving surgery. Thankfully, he is recovering well medically and is back to work. He is extremely grateful for the care he received.

Don had been making monthly payments but it wasn’t enough to prevent some bills from being turned to collection. On top of his ongoing medical debt Don pays an additional $400 each month for the necessary medical supplies and prescription drugs not covered under his insurance.

Don is a private person who doesn’t like asking for help. However, we know that he needs a little help right now. If you are able to help him we know he would be so grateful and maybe his stress level would ease up a bit so he can stop worrying about how he’s going to be able to pay off this debt before he retires. We want him to quit worrying and start enjoying being cancer free!
