Please help Focused Friends make a Difference

Focused Friends (Optalis) is an Advocacy Group led by Adults with Learning Disabilities in Wokingham. We spend a lot of time helping and fundraising for local community groups.

We involve ourselves in many different projects, support local charities, and groups and fundraise throughout the year. We are always helping others and due to a recent customer family bereavement, we have decided to help ourselves this time.

One of our group members Lizzie Trusty had a very difficult year last year when her Dad Ian passed away due to Prostate Cancer. We wanted to do an event to raise some money and awareness for Prostate Cancer. Whilst chatting and planning our event it became apparent that many of our group members missed loved ones and would appreciate somewhere to sit quietly to remember them, that is when we decided instead of sending money to the Prostate Cancer Charity we will use the money to fund a Remembrance seating area within the grounds of the Acorn Centre, Woosehill. This area would be accessible to our customers, staff and the local community.

We are having a Cake Bake Sale at the Acorn Community Centre between 10.30am - 12.30pm on Tuesday 14th March 2023. If you would like to bake, please let us know, alternatively, we would appreciate a donation to our go fund me.
