Please help Fynn make his Olympic dream a reality

My name is Crystal Flaman. I am a life-long friend of Fynn's mom. I've been following Fynn's athletic journey since he was a young boy. He is one of the most focused, driven, kind and hard-working young people I know. And he needs our help to make his greatest dream a reality.
We have all had dreams. Big dreams and small ones. And I would be so grateful if you could help Fynn bring his greatest dream to life!
Fynn Fafard is a member of the Canadian Men’s Epée Team. He was born in Lumsden, Saskatchewan and raised both there and on BC’s Sunshine Coast. He is 23 years old and currently makes his home in Vancouver, BC.
Can you help Fynn in his final push to make his Olympic dream a reality?
In order to give Fynn the best chance to qualify for the 2024 Paris Olympics we are hoping that some of you who have been following his adventures over the years might like to help out with a donation so Fynn can make this final push for his Olympic dream. This would be an amazing gift for Fynn who has been proudly representing Canada for the last decade.
Qualifying for the Olympics is no small feat. This couldn’t be more true for Canada in the sport of fencing where our athletes compete for eight Olympic team spots in each weapon and gender against teams from countries whose fencers for the most part are able to pursue their athletic goals without the need for additional employment. Essentially, professionals. Our young Canadian Men’s Epée team is on the rise, after ending the 2022 season ranked 24th in the world they have now climbed to the 16th place ranking going into the 2023-24 season and the Olympic qualifying year. They currently hold the Olympic qualifying spot for the Americas. Columbia and Argentina are both clawing at their heels and the qualification race is far from over. The team must maintain their qualifying spot until the end of the Olympic season by continuing to build on their successes in the team events at the qualifying tournaments.
Fynn’s journey began a decade ago just before his 13th birthday when he discovered a deep love for the sport and he has held a National team spot since the age of 15. He has worked incredibly hard, learning and perfecting his craft and growing and persevering through the many ups and downs that fencing and life have presented him with along his path. We want to see him find a way to make this final push for the Olympic qualification year and realize his career goal to represent his country on the Olympic stage.
A few key highlights of Fynn’s fencing career are:
2017: Fynn anchored the Canadian Under17 team to a silver medal at the World Championships in Plovdiv, Bulgaria
2020: Gold Medal - Canadian Men’s Under20 team at the Pan Am Championships
2018-2019 Two time Canadian Senior Men’s Champion
Fynn funded his 2022 season by working a full time construction job, but the laborious and demanding nature of the job took its toll on his body and left him spread pretty thin trying to keep up with the rigours of training and competition. Still, he hung onto his team spot. This year Fynn will be working as a personal trainer which will allow him to support his journey and be less taxing on his body.
This is the list of qualifying events for the upcoming Olympic season that Fynn will need to compete in:
World Cup - Berne, Switzerland - November 10-12, 2023
World Cup - Vancouver, BC - December 7-9, 2023
Grand Prix - Doha, Qatar - January 26 - 28, 2024
World Cup - Heidenheim, Germany - February 22-24, 2024
World Cup - Buenos Aires, Argentina - March 22-24, 2024
Grand Prix - Cali, Columbia - May 3-5, 2023
World Cup - Paris, France - May 17-18, 2023
Thank you so much for reading and for considering contributing to Fynn’s Olympic dream!
