Help Get Nala Home

Donation protected
Hello all,

I am raising funds for a stray puppy that I found on holiday in turkey. I want to bring her home to the UK to give her the forever loving home that all dogs deserve. A life were she won’t have to beg for food or search for water in the blistering heat or worry about getting attacked by other stray dogs at only 3 or 4 months old.

Backstory:

We found Nala on Konyaalti beach at a beach bar called RedRujj begging for food. She was going from lounger to lounger being shooed away by most people. Even though she was underweight and in ill health with an infected and cut ear that did not stop her personality shining through as soon as we give her our attention. She is such a happy go lucky innocent puppy that still loved to play even though she was homeless and clearly must go through so much on a daily basis.

We fed her, played with her but when we ran out of food she left us in search of more as she was clearly hungry. I got her some food and went to find her to give her it. Once I showed her, she followed me back to our table and ate the lot! She then fell asleep on me and that’s when I knew it was going to be very hard to just leave this defenceless pup here alone to fend for herself. In tears I left the beach with no other option.

The next day we returned at the same time and there she was, being swatted away by most who she tried to interact with. We spent time with her again feeding her and it made it even more difficult to leave the second time around as we had a bond! Before we did leave I spoke to the bar staff who did confirm she was homeless and was there everyday begging for scraps.

My fear was, what would she do in the winter once the beach bars are shut and the weather turns nasty! A puppy her age, all alone may not survive the winter.

Our flight home was the following day so I put a post out on social media to see if anyone could give us some information about rehoming and taking stray dogs to the UK. Numerous people said Hunters House were the people to speak to. We done a quick research and learned they have being taking in stray dogs off the streets, fostering them and rehoming to the UK for the past 7 years. So we contacted Hayley and Hakan an told them the story of Nala. They said if we could secure her they would be able to help.

So with an hour to spare before being picked up to go to the airport we jumped a taxi to the beach to find her. There she was! We spoke to the bar staff and told them she was going to be rescued tomorrow if somebody would secure her for the night. The next morning Hayley set off on a 6 hour round trip to get her, and like clockwork at around 4pm when the midday heat died down a little she appeared. Hayley rang to tell me she had her and a weight lifted from my shoulders, I had never felt so relieved. Nala is being took straight to the vet for a complete health check.

The process then is as follows:

Nala will need to stay in foster care or kennels for the 4-month process. A vet with full knowledge of how the travel process works needs to be used. Full animal check, antibiotics, vaccinations, blood tests, neutering, health certificate to travel and more. Then Nala will be transported To the UK by car.

The total cost of everything above is around £2000. Please share this and any donations are welcome and appreciated! The money will go to Hunters House Boarding Kennels & Street Dog/Cat Assistance who are making this possible and for the amazing work they do everyday!

I will be posting update news and pictures from Hayley and Hakan at Hunters regularly.

Thank you!
