Please help Gladys Castaneda

My name is Veronica and I’ve been holding off on having to do this for a while now. Only because I didn’t think it would be needed. But it has come to a point where we just need a little bit of help.

My mom, Gladys Castaneda, was struck by a car on October 2, 2021 as she was crossing the street with my older sister and 3 year old niece. My mom was the only one injured. She had a broken ankle, hematoma and had to get 18 stitches on her ankle. Due to the hematoma and 18 stitches, she developed a severe wound to where she had to go to wound care every week to get the dressings changed and cleaned. I, myself, had to clean it for a while so it wouldn’t get infected. As of now she continues to go to wound care every week for the dressings to get changed and cleaned.

She also had to see an Orthopedic Surgeon for her broken ankle. She had a splint for a month and a half, a boot for another month and she now has an ankle brace. She starts therapy January 5, 2022 to get her to start fully walking on her own again.

Because of all of this, the medical bills are piling up. Right now, they are over $30,000 and still counting, due to her still being in treatment. The insurance money will not be enough to cover all the medical bills and the expenses we have had to do. My mom has been out of work since the accident and I have been having to work less to be able to take her to all her doctor appointments. She can’t be left alone at home so, my dad has also had to stop working less to watch over her and my niece while my sister and brother both continue to work the most that they can.
