Help Disabled Grandma and Daughter Gain Stable Housing

Hello and Welcome! Thank you so much for viewing our page, we deeply appreciate it!
The help you could give us is vital to our wellbeing. Shares and donations will make it possible for us to improve our quality of life.

My name is Anne, and I am caretaker to my mother, Mary. Many years ago I lost my child, E’s (for privacy) father before they were a year old, and my mom stepped in to help me. After having E, my health took a swan dive, I developed a brain tumor, and even after removal I am having severe disabilities that doctors have not found a cause to yet. Things fell apart for us for a few years as we both battled disabilities and health problems, making work impossible despite multiple attempts to try and work.

Eventually, my mom Mary retired and we were able to keep stability and meet our needs. Being unable to work, I took over the household management and sole driving responsibilities.

My moms health issues make her unable to feel her feet and ankles, and have severely limited her vision. In addition, Mary is also showing signs of early alzhiemers or dementia.

For myself, I am still battling hormone issues from when I had the brain tumor (pituitary), and thanks to how the hormones have affected my body my scoliosis has gotten more severe, I have a pinched nerve in my lower spine, and have developed arthritis in most of my joints, along with some of my own mild cognitive issues (memory, executive function). The hormone issues affect more than that, but it varies day by day and the list of possible symptoms range from major sleep issues to intense vertigo to muscle spasms, and easily-induced fatigue and overexhaustion/overheating.

Recently, we lost our vehicle and that took a huge hit for us, due to our disabilities being mobility focused, it became extremely hard to get where we need to go for what we need and have to do. The follow-up plan we had with someone we trusted for another vehicle fell through and never happened, and we were upset, and distressed, but worked towards figuring out how to make everything work and plan for a new (used of course) car.

In January our bathroom sink began to backflow even if we hadn’t used it, and despite us contacting the landlord every single time it was never fixed before it got out of hand. Now our bathroom is so water damaged that they are sure it is a busted pipe and we need to move units to get it resolved, and was informed we would not be able to move back to the unit were currently in. The unit they set up for us is 30-40% smaller than what we are in, and what we are in is already small for the 3 of us. If we want a bigger unit for us when it becomes available, we will need to provide the deposit for that unit, which is the primary goal of this fund, along with the money to hire movers to help move into the unit we need to, which is sooner than we could plan. Any leftover funds would be going towards a car for us and help to empty a storage unit we’ve had for years hanging over our financial heads.

Your help is very important and vital to us because we lack an in-person support system that could help in these situations. We are essentially doing this on our own, and it has been a downhill slide since we lost our car. Your help is what can lift us up so were don’t lose the stability we currently have and don’t have anything else collapse onto us.

If you read this and cannot donate, I ask that you share our link wherever you can, and leave a reaction emoji in the space on this page. The more eyes that see this, the more likely we are to get the help and support we need to make sure we are not at risk of homelessness or severe injury from our disabilities.

I cannot thank you enough for visiting our page, hearing our story and helping us however you can. If this site is not for you, please reach out to me (Anne) about another way to donate, as I can always add offline donations to this page so they are documented and I don’t believe GFM can take fees off those either.

Take Care
Anne, Mary and E

We appreciate your kindness, compassion, support and empathy.
