Please Help Isabel Albrecht Battle Cancer

Hello, I am a friend of Sheri’s and her family. Her Mom, Isabel Albrecht, was diagnosed with cancer. I wanted to pay it forward by starting a Go Fund Me as I have been in their family’s circumstance and the financial help was extremely helpful.

As many of you may know, Isabel Albrecht was diagnosed on May 30th with a sarcoma which is a rare, high-grade cancer. She was diagnosed after a few weeks in the Kelowna hospital while visiting family. She was transferred to the Nanaimo General Hospital as she was also diagnosed with Paraneoplastic Syndrome which causes rare disorders when the immune system responds to the tumor. It has been a difficult journey for her and her family while mostly being in hospital since her diagnosis.

She started radiation on July 16th in Victoria as an out patient and was admitted to hospital on July 17th as the Paraneoplastic syndrome was causing more issues. she had to remain in Royal Jubilee Hospital until September 2nd when she was transferred to Vancouver General Hospital to have surgery to remove the tumor.

Surgery to remove the sarcoma tumor was scheduled for Sept 5th. After waiting all day, they received the news that they had to postpone surgery for another five days due to unforeseen hospital emergencies. This will be a major surgery that will require a lengthy post-operation stay in Vancouver followed by months of physiotherapy once home.

With all that said, friends and family have been reaching out asking how they could help, as Isabel is the first to offer her kindness and support to her friends, family and strangers. As I have gone through this with my own family, I know first hand how stressful the financial burden that a cancer diagnosis and treatment can be. It would be an incredible gift to remove some of that stress, as Ken has been by Isabel’s side most every day supporting her and loving her through the fight of her life.
