Please help Istianah Terpadu orphanage school
Donation protected
Hello, I'm Di and for the past three years since we've been in the Sorong area of West Papua, I've been visiting the students and staff at Istianah Terpadu school for disadvantaged kids, helping them with their English lessons and doing what I can to support them with donations. At least half the students are Papuan orphans and live full-time at the school under the care of the wonderful volunteer staff and teachers.
The school was founded in 2014 by Dr Karsiman, a local university professor, and much of the school's operational funding came from his efforts. One of the things that really impresses me about the school is that it accepts both Muslim and Christian students from elementary to middle school and that it offers free education for those students who can't afford to pay school fees. The dedicated teachers often work for minimal salaries or volunteer their time.
Unfortunately, Dr Karsiman passed away in 2020 and since then the school has struggled to find funding for essential building works and educational needs. The current dormitories are extremely basic and flood every time it rains (which is often in Sorong!). A new dormitory block was started last year but the building has been put on hold due to lack of funds.
If you could help me raise some money to finish their dormitory block and lay some proper flooring in the classrooms that would be absolutely wonderful, and I know they would be so, so grateful for any donation no matter how small.
