Please Help Jeff Burnside w Medical Expenses
Donation protected
Hi everyone, I’m starting this fundraiser for the Burnside’s, a family that has helped thier friends and community above and beyond when needed with out any hesitation. Now they need our help.
The Burnside Family's lives were recently turned upside down when Jeff, their husband and father, was diagnosed with an aggressive case of Squamous Cell Carcinoma cancer of the neck. Jeff became ill in February and began coughing up blood after returning from a camping trip with his boys. His wife, Angelique, rushed him to Houston Methodist West Hospital where the ER staff decided Jeff needed to be admitted. After a couple days of rigorous testing, the doctors found a cancerous tumor located in the throat and neck area. The family immediately scheduled an appointment with a specialist for a second opinion where they confirmed the diagnosis and also discovered the cancer had spread to some surrounding lymph nodes. The specialist insisted he needed to go to MD Anderson and aided in getting him the best team possible. MD Anderson has moved quickly and begun a treatment plan starting with 3 rounds of chemotherapy. MD Anderson will then decide if the tumor has reduced in size enough for him to start a combination of radiation and chemo for 5 days a week for 7 weeks. This news has been quite a shock for the family as Jeff has historically rarely been sick with even the smallest of ailments. However, MD Anderson has given the Burnsides hope of a positive prognosis with their care and treatment. Jeff has been assigned to a team of specialists that specifically focus on head and neck cancers only, and treat roughly 300-400 patients a year with this same type of cancer. The Burnside Family was not prepared for the cost of treatment in addition to the extra cost of medications and nutritional supplements required to maintain Jeff's health and weight. Each round of chemotherapy treatment costs over $10,000. While some financial help will come from MD Anderson cancer organizations, it unfortunately will not cover most of the medical expenses. If you would like to assist the family by making a donation towards the costs of treatment you can make a donation here. For information on how to make a donation to MD Anderson directly or to donate blood in Jeff's name, please contact Angelique Burnside or Alyssa Burnside. The Burnside Children (Alyssa, Riley and Brent) and Family are all helping the best they can to help give Jeff the best possible chance to overcome this illness. Your help, whether it be in prayers, a donation, or a kind gesture, is appreciated more than you know.
Updates will be provided on his treatment plan and results.
God bless you all.
