Please help John Hollywood fight cancer

Hi Friends,

I (Laura Houdlette) along with Jeremy Deering are fundraising on behalf of our very dear friend Joanna Hollywood and her husband John. We met Joanna at University of New England where we affectionately referred to her as “mama” and we learned through the years that she was our loyal voice of reason, helping us to navigate our young lives. When Joanna met John Hollywood, it was clear that good things come to those who wait. Together they have created a home filled with love and an endless focus on their two beautiful girls. Maeve will enter sixth grade this school year and Isla will enter third grade. Mama is the Godmother of my Simone and I am honored to be the Godmother of Maeve. John Hollywood is “uncle John” to my kids.

Three weeks ago, John was diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer. I cry as I write these words because this is not the way things are supposed to be. This is not something I can fix. Jeremy and I cannot help her and John with this alone. We need our friends and family who are far and wide.

John has begun chemotherapy and he will be out of work for an unknown amount of time. We are asking for donations to help ease the stress of time out of work, future surgery, medical bills and planning for the future. We are hoping to lighten their financial worries so the Hollywoods can focus on their emotional and physical needs allowing them to fight this battle with everything they’ve got!
