Please Help: Just a Girl and Her Dog
Donation protected
Hello, My name is Christina. I'm creating a gofundme to help two a very close friends, Hannah and Maverick. Her pup, who is as dear to her as life itself, has become sick. Below is a time line of everything she and Maverick have been facing physical, mental and financial These past few months.
On June 13, 2023 Maverick developed a sudden and persistent cough. Hannah, his Dog Mom immediately took him to his vets to be examined. Two weeks after the cough started, he started having green nasal discharge. It has now been over 68 days of various antibiotics, multiple vets visits, 50+ blood tests to rule out fungal & other infections and diseases (all negative), X-rays (normal), steroids, allergy meds, and cough meds. Nothing has helped. Local vets are stumped and out of ideas. They have referred him to try specialist care out of town at VCA Sacramento.
If you know Hannah and Maverick, you know the bond they share is more than that of dog and human. It is that of a parent and child. Maverick is everything to Hannah. Her joy, Her strength. At just 4 weeks old, Maverick was rescued from a senseless backyard breeder and brought home to be nursed through the days and nights by Hannah. Since day one, Hannah has ensured Maverick has always had what he needs and more. Giving him his best life.
An inseparable pair, they enjoy going on adventures, traveling, hiking, kayaking, boating, and going to the park together. Maverick was even in training to become Hannah’s Service Animal just before becoming ill.
Maverick’s mysterious illness has taken a toll on him and Hannah. Besides the endless hours at the vet hospitals, extensive tests and medications that get hopes up only to be left with no answers, the emotional toll has been extremely hard. Maverick cannot exercise or play with his friends. Maverick’s coughs, reverse sneezes, and heavy pants, has made him become tired and sullen. He has very limited energy and his breathing seems to be harder.
They are both fighters. Hannah will not stop until answers are found. But this does mean baring high expenses, potential overnight stays, missed work, and long days. Hannah has been using all her savings to pay for Maverick’s bills. We want to help ease some of the burden by showing our support through meals, prayers, and monetary donations.
Her recent estimate from VCA is $8931.25 (low-end) to $11,164.06 (High-end). VCA requires you pay at least 100% of the low end estimate before they will provide any service, so Hannah has had to split that between two credit cards. Any monetary donations will be used to pay direct expenses for Maverick’s medical bills. Please consider helping, as even the smallest amount is truly appreciated.
If you would like to help in other ways, emotional support, meals, etc. Please reach out to Hannah or her mom directly.
