Fundraiser closed. Hi, I’m Tracey and Kaitlyn boards her horse with me in Nicholasville, Ky at Blue Moon Farm. She was severely injured minutes after this photo was taken. We were moving this maiden mare and newborn foal to a large stall. The mare tried to kick at the other horses that ran up to see us when we went around the outside of the barn. The mare accidentally kicked Kaitlyn in the pelvic area and her foal in the head trying to get to the other horses inside the fence. Kaitlyn suffered severe injuries, and after a visit to the local emergency room, was transported to the University of Kentucky trauma center. She underwent a five hour emergency surgery to remove half of her colon and appendix. We are trying to raise money to help cover her expenses while she recovers. She just started a new job at the Parade of Breeds Barn at the Kentucky Horse Park and they have assured her that her job will be waiting once she has recovered. The recovery period will be a minimum of six weeks possibly longer before she can return to work. We are asking for help to cover her expenses while she recovers. All help will be greatly appreciated!! The foal is also recovering after the vet got involved. Please share!! Thank you!
