Please Help Linda Davis of Lorena, Texas

I am a good friend of Linda Davis, owner and operator of Country Cut Salon and Barber in Lorena, Texas. Country Cut is currently the 2nd oldest business in Lorena that has been continuously operated by Linda for 42 years. Linda loves her work, cutting and styling her clients hair and engaging in fun, lighthearted conversation and catching up on the going ons around town. She says that she misses her salon, her longtime clients and dear neighborhood friends. Linda is kindhearted, funny and a sweet natured lady that brings joy to everyone's lives that she meets. She is optimistic and tends to look on the bright side of things. Linda always has a smile on her face and a laugh in her heart.
On December 26, 2023, Linda was admitted to the hospital for heart surgery. The surgery did not go as planned and Linda suffered major medical trauma and almost lost her life. She went into cardiac arrest and had to be given a powerful drug to pull blood from her body to restart her heart. Her surgeon was able to revive her heartbeat, but the consequences of the cardiac arrest and the drug Levophed shut down all Linda's vital organs. Linda has been and is still on dialysis, oxygen, antibiotics and other lifesaving procedures and medicines. The heart reviving medication was so hard on Linda that it caused trauma to her fingers. Linda was transferred by ambulance to a post-intensive care and rehabilitation hospital in Fort Worth on January 29, 2024. She hopes to return home in a few weeks and start rehab in Waco.
While Linda was in the hospital, she lost her beloved dog of 14 years, Gizmo. Linda's husband Eddy has been by her side every day, only going home to check on Gizmo and sleep. Having to bury Gizmo was the hardest thing for him, especially with Linda in the hospital and unable to say her goodbyes to her beloved pet.
Linda has a long journey ahead of her for a full recovery. As she told me, "I just want to get better". She doesn't blame her surgeon for what happened. That shows you the kind of person Linda is. She and her husband Eddy will encounter many expenses due to her medical complications. Linda has lost her livelihood and Eddy is retired. Any monetary help from the Lorena Community, Linda's clients and friends will be greatly appreciated.
All monies collected through this GoFundMe account will go directly to Linda and Eddy, minus the fees that GoFundMe charges for their service.
Please keep Linda in your prayers. Thank you. Donna Athey
