PLEASE HELP LITTLE LACHLAN

Lachlan is a gorgeous 2-year-old boy with severe disabilities, and he desperately needs your help. All funds from this fundraiser will go directly to his mother Summer.

Lachlan’s short little life has been hard, filled with countless hospital admissions, procedures, and surgeries. Despite all this, he makes friends and brings smiles to people’s faces wherever he goes. Lachlan is currently being transported to hospital and therapy in a standard rear-facing car seat. However, he is now outgrowing this option. Due to his conditions, he cannot cope with being transported in a standard forward-facing child seat, as he doesn’t have sufficient control to keep his head upright and maintain his airway for extended periods of time. The family therefore require a car that can be modified so Lachlan can be safely transported with his wheelchair.

It might help you to know that Lachlan has been diagnosed with an extremely rare genetic abnormality (a duplication of the 12q chromosome), which means Lachlan suffers an extensive list of medical complications, including:

• bilateral intraventricular haemorrhage (bleeding on brain at birth)

• cerebral palsy (muscle movement disorder). Has dystonia and spasticity. GMFCS level 3-4

• laryngomalacia (floppy larynx, major risk for lung infections)

• bilateral colobomas (misshapen pupils leading to poor vision and light sensitivity)

• vesicoureteral reflux (urine reflux to kidneys, leading to frequent UTIs)

• reflux nephropathy (kidney damage from reflux)

• gastro-oesophageal reflux disease

• hydrocephalus (accumulation of spinal fluid inside ventricles in brain), requiring a VP shunt

• repaired duodenal atresia (stomach and intestines not connected properly)

• hypoxia, sleep related (poor circulation of oxygen), requiring a BiPAP machine

• nil by mouth, fed via PEG device (directly into stomach)

• developmental delays

Please help us raise funds to help the family as they are not wealthy, and the whole process is very expensive and is causing them significant stress.
