Original: Lori Amato, a member of our community, is currently battling stage 4 kidney cancer that has metastasized to her bones and lungs. The treatment costs are overwhelming her and her family. As a neighbor and friend of the Amato family, I am managing this GoFundMe campaign to help Lori with her cancer treatment costs.
Lori is a strong and positive person who has been fighting every day since her diagnosis in 2021. Her family has been a great support system, but Lori is not comfortable asking for help. As her friend, I want to step in and make it easier for her to focus on treatments and healing.
Donations are urgently needed to improve her living situation. Some modifications need to be made to the house to make it accessible. She, understandably, does not want to stay in a nursing home or hospital. Every dollar will go towards cancer-fighting expenses such as hospital bills, medication, medical equipment, and home modifications. Any amount, no matter how small, is greatly appreciated.
Despite having insurance, not all costs are covered. Lori's out-of-pocket expenses are overwhelming. She has already undergone several hospitalizations, immunotherapy medications, and infusions. While some new tumors have been controlled, others have developed in her brain. The three smaller ones can be removed with a Gamma Knife procedure, and she has recently undergone radiation therapy to help with the others on her brain. Lori is also dealing with liver and kidney issues, and her recent pelvic fracture requires surgery.
It is important to rally together and support Lori in her fight against cancer. Please share the campaign and donate if you can help Lori and her family during this difficult time. Let us show Lori that she is not alone in this battle. In the event there are extra funds, they will go toward a reputable cancer research organization.
