Please help Marie and Elijah

Please let me tell you about Marie Habib … and Elijah.

Marie Habib worked as a front-line caregiver for over 40 years, working as a PSW = Personal Support Worker.

I had the amazing blessing of having Marie take care of my Grandmother for 14 years. That was close to 25 years ago. Marie is no longer able to work and is now in her early 70’s and dealing with several significant health issues.

Marie has had … and continues to have an extremely difficult life. Marie’s first husband abducted their son and fled Canada. Marie went alone -- and was able to flee back to Canada with her son. Marie received zero child support.

Marie had a daughter with her second husband. That marriage also did not last.

Marie raised both of her children as a single mom, with zero financial support.

Marie’s son was later diagnosed with Schitzophrenia and was doing great. He tragically passed away several years ago at the young age of only 35 years old. He choked while eating lunch.

Marie’s daughter was diagnosed with Cancer and is continuing to fight for her life.

Marie’s daughter has a son = Marie’s grandson = Elijah.

Elijah lives full-time with Marie, and has lived with Marie since birth. Elijah has Autism and is now in his early twenties.

I am trying desperately to get Marie out of the apartment she now lives in with Elijah. Marie and Elijah need to move out of the terrible apartment they are currently living in. There is no air conditioning. The apartment is very, very small. Their furniture is old and broken and tattered. The only laundry room for their use is dirty and dangerous. There is significant crime in the area. There are no windows in the living room/kitchen/entrance area. Smoking was never allowed and now the building has changed to smoking allowed. Marie suffers from asthma. With no balconies for close to 3 years and now with no windows, smoke permeates Marie’s apartment from all the surrounding neighbors. The building management is non responsive and nothing can be done about this. The funds raised will, in part, be used for first and last month rent for a new place to live, moving expenses, new furniture, new appliances, etc.

Funds raised will also be used for the following :

· Marie needs budget for taxi's and ubers.

· Marie does not have enough money for groceries.

· Marie needs new clothing.

· Elijah desperately needs new winter boots and a new winter jacket and new, larger clothing.

· Marie desperately needs money to hire caregiver(s) for Elijah, so Marie knows there will be support for Elijah, when Marie is not able to do so. This is critical because Marie needs a knee replacement surgery and she cannot go forward unless she knows Elijah is able to be cared for.

· It would also be wonderful for Marie to be able to have a vacation ... go out for dinner ... go to the Salon … and know that Elijah is taken care of. Marie has not had any type of vacation in over 20 years. She rarely leaves her apartment.

For years and years, I have done what I can to help Marie and Elijah. Giving them cash gifts. Buying clothing. Buying food. Buying kitchen appliances. Bringing over toilet paper, paper towels, etc., taking Marie out as much as I can … and so much more.

However, I cannot do this alone.

And so, on behalf of Marie and Elijah, I am asking for your help.

I truly hope you can feel my love for Marie and Elijah. I also hope you can see how deserving Marie and Elijah are ... and how desperately they need your support.
