Please help Matt as he waits for a new heart

Hi my name is Beau,

I am raising money for my older brother Matt, his new wife Liz and their 11 month old baby boy Noah. On Tuesday, Matt suffered a heart attack.

The morning of, Matt woke up feeling a bit off so he tried to stretch out his body thinking that he had slept badly, then he jumped into a hot shower while Liz got their baby Noah ready for the day, little did they know Matt was having a severe heart attack. This is when Matt started to experience chest tightness, body aches, chills and cold sweats. From this point, the couple realised this was an emergency and called for an ambulance. They were met at the bottom of Tamborine mountain by an intensive care paramedic and rushed to Gold Coast University Hospital. On arrival to GCUH, Matt was raced into Cath lab and an angiogram was performed. When realising the severity Matt was placed in ICU.

In hospital our family was notified Matt was very unwell and had multiple blood clots and fluid on his lungs. After 2 nights in ICU at Gold Coast, the doctors decided to send Matt by lights and sirens to ICU at prince Charles Hospital, the leading cardiology and transplant hospital in Queensland.

This was then again when we found out the devastating news Matt had severe heart damage with no other possible interventions except for a heart transplant at the age of 35.

Matt and Liz have only been married 6 weeks after rekindling a romance from over a decade ago. Their son Noah, who will have his first birthday in July, has been by his Dada’s side every day since

Matt’s dream job of being a head chef is the main source of income for the family and with the unknown hospital and recovery that comes with his illness, it may be months, if not years till he is able to earn a full income. Liz is a full time Mum to Noah, works part time and is now visiting Matt everyday in Brisbane. With the cost of living, a mortgage and hospital visits, this young family needs our help more than ever.
