Please help me adopt a dog for my birthday

Hi, my name is Erin. Our dog of 13 recently passed away. This is left a tremendous hole in our hearts. Big dog energy is missing from our home. My mental health can only last so long without a dog in my life.

The amount I raise here will go towards adopting a dog. It costs approx $250-$300 to adopt a dog. After a dog is adopted, they need a vet visit. Any dog that I adopt will need at the very least- a vet visit and a full panel run. I will not leave the vet's office for less than $300. In addition to that, new dogs need stuff.

Why do I need to raise the money like this? I am in a really weird financial position in my life right now. I just graduated from law school and am in this "limbo" phase until I get my results back in October. Regardless, I just started working again because I did not work while I studied for the BAR exam. Therefore, I need help financially to adopt a dog post haste.

Why do I need a dog when I have Othello and cats? Othello does not count as a dog, no offense to him. In addition, Othello is devasted. I now need to sit with him while he eats. He continues to "search" for Nikki. He is absolutely out of sorts. He is always out of sorts, but he is extra out of sorts. Othello needs a companion almost as much as I do. Further, cats are awesome- but they are not the same as dogs.

What kind of dog do I want to get? I want to adopt a dog that needs a home. I am willing to adopt any dog that fits our household. I have been in touch with several ASPCAs, The hope foundation for prison dogs, CPAA, and Collie Rescues. I am also willing to travel to meet dogs that have death sentences. I am willing to adopt an older dog or a younger dog. It just needs to be the right dog from an established rescue location.

In short, I would like to be able to adopt a dog by my birthday - 9/12.
