Please help me get aid to my family in Gaza!
Asem moved from Gaza to the US in 2016, with the dream of running a successful business and moving the rest of his family to the US. Nearly 8 years later their paperwork was approved and his wife and five children made the journey to Jerusalem to get their approval papers from the embassy. At the last checkpoint, the guards told Asem's oldest son Mohammed that he was not approved, and he had to stay behind. His mother begged and pleaded for the officers to approve Mohammed’s application, which was finally granted. Astoundingly, the family made it to the U.S. on September 21, 2023. Just a few weeks before they would have been trapped in Gaza and their lives put at risk.
Unfortunately, Asem's parents, siblings, and extended family remain in Gaza, and have lost their homes and all of their belongings in the bombing. Over 20 family members are staying in the apartment of a family friend trying to stay safe, find clothing, water and food. The youngest, just a toddler. Asem and his sons are doing everything they can to send money to their remaining family members in Gaza. They send money made at their restaurant and they send the little money made from their donation jar on the counter of their restaurant. This GoFundMe has been set up to provide aid to their family in Gaza for food, water and clothing. The ultimate dream is to find a way to get them out of Gaza, to keep them safe and alive.
When their homes were destroyed they were not able to save or collect any belongings, and had only the clothing on their backs. Your donation will help ensure that they have the clothing that they need to survive the elements and the food to avoid starvation. Asem has been successful in getting money to his family in Gaza thus far and hopes to continue to be able to support them.
