Please Help Me Save Bean!
Donation protected
As most of you know, I found Bean on the street a few blocks from where I live along with 2 other kittens at 1AM on July 28th.
August 5th I noticed Bean had a fever and we took her to Urgent Care immediately and she received pain meds and subcutaneous fluids.
August 8th I took her to my vets office for an exam and she was diagnosed with Panleukopenia, a highly contagious virus that only has a 20%-51% survival rate when given supportive care.
I immediately began giving Bean supportive care while she was fighting this horrible virus. Feeding her every 2 to 4 hours and giving her subcutaneous fluids every morning and an antibiotic twice a day.
Bean seemed like she was improving and then I noticed her belly looked swollen.
We switched her to a gastrointestinal kitten food because we thought it was possibly a side effect to the panleukopenia.
August 18th we took her back to the vet and found that she had fluid in her belly. Meaning she more than likely had FIP, another deadly virus that most likely came on due to her immune system being shot from the panleukopenia virus.
FIP was considered a death sentence not too long ago, but fortunately there is a non-FDA approved drug called GS-441524 that has had amazing outcomes giving lots of kitties the chance to live long lives and beat FIP!!
With the help of FIPWarriors.com we will be starting Bean on this 84 day treatment plan plus an 84 day observation period. A total of 168 days.
The treatment consists of 84 days of injections and these injections can be very expensive. She will also need to have blood work and vet exams done every 4-6 weeks for 168 days.
If you are able to donate so that Bean can receive this life saving treatment, it would mean the world to us! Anything is appreciated.
Any left over funds will be donated to ZenByCat.org - a 501(3)c nonprofit whose mission is “to show how living with cats improves both human and feline lives and raising both awareness and money to find a cure for Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP)“
Thank you ❤️
