Please Help Michelle through her Cancer Journey!

Hello! My name is Tee and I am Michelle’s eldest daughter. This journey started with a late night text on February 29th, wherein she had sent me, “I have something to tell you”. Three months later and my mother has undergone various medical scans, began chemotherapy and immunotherapy, has received a Pleurx catheter and has officially been diagnosed with Extensive Small-Cell Lung Cancer.
I recently graduated college and live in Durham, NC. Unfortunately, my mother lives over 600 miles away from me in Upstate New York and I cannot be with her as much to help her through this process. Outside of me and my youngest sister who is attending college, my mother has no other support system. She lost her mother in 2016 and her father decades earlier, and her sister and her are estranged. She has had to attend all but one of the many doctor’s appointments she has had by herself, and now that she has started chemo, she drives over an hour to get to and from her chemo appointments. By herself. On top of this, she has an energetic, eight year old son (my beloved brother) that she and she alone takes care of, and struggles with finding consistent childcare due to limited options and the limited presence of his father in my little brother’s life.
Because I can’t do much for her in New York, I am trying to get her to move to North Carolina so that I can offer more of my physical support to her. But between the costs of taking care of herself and my little brother on a very low-income and transporting herself to and from doctor’s appointments in this economy, planning and funding her move has been challenging for the both of us.
I love my mother dearly. I think that she is such a strong woman and certainly is a fighter. But no one should have to shoulder so much by themselves while battling cancer. She has taken it in stride and rolled with the punches but she shouldn’t have to. I’m making this gofundme for her in hopes that she may be able to raise money for transportation costs to and from chemo, as well as to alleviate any financial strain that may come with her move to North Carolina. Any donations are appreciated, no matter how small, and if unable to donate, thank you for taking the time to read and listen to my mother’s story♥️
