Please help Mom make her home more accessible.

Hi Everyone,

My name is Scott, on August 23rd our 76 year old Mom, Kay Pepin (known as The Biscuit Lady to most of McMinn and Monroe counties) had a BAD fall causing a fractured pelvis, tailbone, and a couple ribs.

Mom is out of the hospital, and currently in an assisted rehabilitation center, requiring intense physical therapy before we will be able to bring her back to her home.

If you know our Mom, you know Ms Kay is a strong willed woman, and we know she will fight through this. Our family hates seeing her in this predicament and we can't wait to have her home.

The reason I am asking for help is we have to make Mom's home more accessible to her needs when she gets home, so I need to build a few things, most importantly:

An new entry ramp/deck, to replace the current stairs leading up to the front door and replace or reinforce the older decking and handrails.

I previously installed grab bars in the shower but would like to install some by the toilet, and change the shower head to one Mom can use while sitting, we plan on getting a shower chair as well.

With the higher prices on building materials and Mom on a fixed income her funds are limited, I'm recovering from a broken hand so my income isn't sufficient to cover these costs alone. My sister Helen is here helping while continuing her education on line while we work together to get Mom back home.

I have sourced a few materials thanks to friends that I know in the construction industry, but more is needed. We also have several skilled people willing to donate their time to make this project a reality. Hallelujah for friends!
