CANCER SUCKS - Rosa's Story!
Donation protected
I am raising awareness for my sister in-law Rosa. She is in simple terms... Irreplaceable..
I have never, ever met a more kind, caring, compassionate, selfless person.
Rosa is a 30 year old mother of four young children. The eldest child is 10 years old, with her youngest still a toddler, at almost 3 years.
Rosa has done alot of community work for women in need, helping women to find a safe place for themselves and their families, and is constantly looking out for everybody else.
Her youngest daughter is an epileptic, and her eldest has bowel problems, both which results in frequent hospitalisations.
In the last 3 weeks, Rosa has been diagnosed with breast cancer. The surgeon informed her that she needs to have a Bilateral Mastectomy on the 21st January 2021 (6 weeks). The surgeons will follow up immediately with reconstructive surgery.
After this, she will be undergoing chemotherapy, or radiation treatment.
Then of course there is there countless everyday medication to help combat the short term side effects. Such as nausea, vomiting, dizziness, fainting, fatigue, and that's just to name a few.
The emotional toll of someone (especially someone so young) is that she will lose both breasts. The shock of that alone, would send any person into a depressed state. She is going to look at herself everyday, and see a different person then she saw before the cancer took hold of her body. The hospice nurse who will also be there daily after she is admitted from hospital to adhere to her needs as she will be physically unable to move after her surgery. The nurse will help her do the things she usually does throughout her day. Our family & I will also help with the daily activities, to take care of her children to ensure that their lives don't suffer, just because their mother battles this disease...
The surgery Rosa will be required to have, will take a significant physical & emotional toll on her life. Rosa used to work 2 jobs. Now she can't work at all. She will also be unable to do basic daily tasks, as she can't bend, lift, carry or do any of the most menial activities. This is particularly hard for a young mother.
As her family, we all do whatever we possibly can to make it easier on her physically, financially and emotionally. Unfortunately, we do not have the funds to be able to cover the costs. Not to mention that now Rosa can not work, the financial strain is understandably severe.
As Rosa has been in frequent pain, that often causes her mental health to suffer too. Her family, including her mother, brother, step-dad, and myself have helping as much as we possibly can. Due to the extensive costs, we can not pay for the procedure ourselves.
How is Rosa supposed to pay for medical treatment, when she is struggling to pay the daily expenses?
But yet, she still manages to provide for her children. And continues to check that everybody else, has what they need first.
The money that we are trying to raise, will cover as much expenses as possible including;
- Bilateral Mastectomy
- Reconstructive Surgery
- Medication
- Hospital Care
- Support
- Aftercare
- Homecare
All included in the donations.
The surgery cost alone has been quoted at $25,000+ AUD. With the rest of the donations, we will be putting this towards any medication, & any extra care she will need when she is in recovery.
Unfortunately these expenses are completely out of pocket. After the insurance fee's are all paid up, the insurance company only covers a few thousand dollars..
We, her family, are pitching in whatever amounts we possibly can. We will be asking other family members to help where they can with spreading as much awareneness as possible. We have reached out to multiple charity organizations to see what kind of support we could potentially receive as well. And as previously mentioned, we contribute with her daily life too.
HOW YOU CAN HELP
Rosa has spent her life looking out for everyone else. She is always checking that everyone else has what they need, with complete disregard for herself. I cannot think of anyone more deserving of help then Rosa.
With any luck, this page find's those of you who are in a situation to help. If there is anything at all you can do, please help us support the most kind and deserving young mother fight her battle with this horrible disease It doesn't matter how much you donate. Every little bit helps. Even if you can't donate, just passing this onto someone else gives us another opportunity to help us raise money. ALL MONEY RAISED WILL GO DIRECTLY TO ROSA FOR SURGERY & AFTERCARE.
Please, please help if you can
We appreciate you, and all the help we receive. Thank you so much.
