Please help my mom come home to get spine surgery
Donation protected
My mom was involved in a train accident while we were in Japan that resulted in a lumbar spine fracture. She is in constant searing pain and the Japanese hospitals will not perform surgery on her until the specialists arrive but right now it is a holiday in Japan so there are no available doctors. If she gets surgery in Japan, I will have to remain here to take care of her during the surgery and afterwards for her therapy for four months. We want to send her back home on an international medical transport air ambulance so she can get surgery in her own country, the U.S. The trip will cost at least $68,000. Please help us get my mom home.
Update: thank you all so very much, from the bottom of our hearts, for the shares, donations, kind thoughts, and advice. We are currently trying to make arrangements for a private air ambulance in hopes of paying less than $68,000. Because my mom’s spine is broken in five separate places and could affect her spinal cord, she may be paralyzed or worse if she is not transported properly. She is required to have, at minimum, nurses on board the air ambulance and at most, a doctor accompanying her. It is difficult because she needs the surgery ASAP; the longer she waits, the more danger she is in. If we cannot find international medical transport by Tuesday, she will need to have the surgery here in Japan and Pauline (my younger sister) and I will remain in Japan to care for our mother. This will be expensive as well, because the recovery and therapy will take 2-4 months. Again, thank you all for your support during such a difficult time for us.
