Help Noor and His Family Get a Safe, Functional Van
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Crystal, and I am reaching out to ask for your support in helping my sister and nephew replace the van that has been their lifeline.
On the morning of Wednesday, November 20, 2024, my sister and nephew were met with a heartbreaking sight. Overnight, someone vandalized their wheelchair-accessible van — the only vehicle that allows my nephew Noor to get around safely and access essential medical care.
The damage is extensive: the windshield was smashed, the rear window shattered with a rock, and two side windows chipped. The offender also dented and scratched the hood and doors, including the front door, which is now severely damaged and no longer opens properly. In addition, they stole a new fall coat and the van’s antenna, which may have contributed to some of the destruction.
About Noor
Noor El Deen is an incredible little warrior who lives with a rare and complex neurological disorder. He has low muscle tone, experiences over 100 seizures a day, and requires round-the-clock medical support. Noor is 100% wheelchair-dependent and has a rare form of diabetes that requires constant monitoring, an insulin pump, and a g-tube for feeding. He also uses an oximeter and BiPAP breathing support during sleep and respiratory distress. Additionally, Noor has dysautonomia, which prevents his body from regulating temperature, meaning he needs a climate-controlled environment at all times.
Due to the severity of his medical needs, Noor’s wheelchair-accessible van is absolutely essential for day-to-day life. The van allows him to attend medical appointments, receive specialized care, and get the supplies he needs to survive. Public transportation is not an option for Noor due to his medical condition, and taxis or similar services are financially unsustainable for regular use.
Most of Noor’s medical care takes place at SickKids in Toronto or McMaster in Hamilton, both of which are over an hour away from our home. Without a reliable vehicle, getting him to these critical appointments is nearly impossible.
The Insurance Struggle
Unfortunately, the insurance company has deemed the van a total loss and offered a payout that is far from enough to replace it with a safe, wheelchair-accessible vehicle.
How You Can Help
We are asking for your support to help raise the funds needed to purchase a new, reliable van for Noor. Your donation will help ensure that he can continue to access the vital medical care he needs and that he and my sister can travel safely and comfortably.
Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and support during this difficult time. Every donation, no matter how small, brings us one step closer to getting Noor back on the road to a better future.
With gratitude,
Crystal
