Please help our brother James Burke get home

Hi my name is Margaret Creed and myself and my sister Carmel Burke and my family are fundraising to get our brother James back to Ireland to continue with his medical care. James is the youngest son of Walter and Maureen Burke of Effin, Co Limerick.

James was due to return home from a holiday abroad in Thailand on the 19th of November and had sent photos to his family and friends in a taxi on route to the aerport but fell seriously ill and ended up in ICU in critical condition in Thailand. James went into respiratory failure and needed to be intubated. James was diagnosed with severe dengue which led to severe sepsis as a result of a mosquito bite. He remains in ICU in Thailand and has improved somewhat as he is no longer intubated however remains in a critical condition. He requires full nursing care for all his needs and continues to receive treatment for his sepsis and has also other related injuries including a bleed to his brain. James has also some nerve damage to his shoulder and he is currently immobile.

James took out travel insurance for his holiday but insurance are refusing to pay as he is in hospital past the date he was due to return home. James is receiving excellent care however the cost is significant at 2700 euros a day in the ICU department not including any needed tests and investigations. We have been informed by James's doctor that James's will need to spend a considerable amount of time in hospital. The family have been trying to cover the costs so far but cannot afford these costs any longer.

We are fundraising to repratitate James home to Ireland to continue his medical here. The cost of repatriation is significant due to James poor health currently and the distance to get him home from Thailand.

We as a family want to bring home our brother James who is alone and helpless without any family or friends to comfort him. We would be forever grateful for any donation which will help get our brother James home.
