Please help our dad Claudio Coppola-Diagnosed with Leukemia

Hello, writing to you all, are the daughters (Claudia & Emily) of the well-known and loved Claudio Coppola; also known as Coppola Films.

Some of you may or may not know, but in October 2020, our dad was diagnosed with (lung & back) Cancer. Under close supervision with his Doctors at Princess Margret and chemo pills subsidized by the Government, they were able to stabilize his situation. Unbeknownst to many, our father lived a very normal and productive life.

On May 18, 2024, after a gruelling all-nighter in the hospital for what we thought was a bad infection and fever, turned out to be a traumatic weekend filled with high emotions for our family. After being passed from doctor to doctor and transferred from one hospital to the next, we learned that our father’s Cancer had returned and spread. He has further been newly diagnosed with a very rare form of Leukemia, Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia (APL). With informative meetings with his Cancer team, they have arranged an aggressive treatment plan that may go on for upwards of 11 to 12 months (plus recovery). They further shared that they feel the prognosis for the Leukemia puts him at a 98% success rate. He has a long journey ahead of him; however we remain hopeful.

As many of you know, our father has forever been one to bring light into people’s lives. With his comedic personality, he has always looked for ways to bring a smile to someone’s face. Now, we are asking all of you to help brighten our father’s (and our) life during this time of extensive darkness. With this new diagnosis, and during this time of intense chemotherapy, he will need to spend most of his days and time in the hospital (six days a week). During this upcoming journey, this will be his full-time role in life, and he needs to fight more now than ever; with all of us cheering him on and supporting him.

With Dad being self-employed and unable to shoot weddings, it will be challenging to stay on top of any personal bills and medical expenses that may arise. Coppola Films will 100% remain running and operating, but our father will be losing majority of his income as a cinematographer. This GoFundMe will not only aid our father financially but most importantly, mitigate the stress of day-to-day expenditures. This generosity will help motivate our father to continue to fight and fight hard with all the words of encouragement, love, and support.

Rest assured to his beautiful brides and grooms; our father will continue to be in the shadows of Coppola Films and foresee all cinematography and editing, guaranteeing you will still have a touch of him and his craft within your final product. After all, wedding cinematography is his greatest passion. Working to make his couple’s wedding day feel so special gives him immense joy, so he wants to be involved in any way possible. Despite the uncertainty of when he will be back on his feet, the employees of Coppola Films are committed to continuing the work of Coppola Films with the same level of passion and dedication that he has brought to the company. Although it is difficult to imagine the business without his vibrant energy, he has an exceptional team of videographers and editors who will ensure that everything runs smoothly in his absence. They will remain committed to carrying on with his passion and vision at the heart of their work.
