Since Thanksgiving, Kayla (mom) has spent over 50 days in the hospital. The day she was admitted for abdominal pain, the radiologist read on the CT that she had stage 3 carsinomatosis. (Cancer) They drained 900ml of fluid out of her abdomen, and immediately placed her on the "cancer floor," and planned for her cancer care. After her biopsy, the doctors were very confused, they said what is showing on the CT scan is not cancer, but they have no idea what it is. They have done every test they can think of but can't figure it out. They continue to drain her abdomen of a lot of fluid every other week or so, the pain is unbelievable, and finally told her and her family she needs to go to a more advanced hospital like Mayo Clinic or Cleveland Clinic to figure out exactly what is growing in her abdomen and causing the fluid to gather as this could absolutely be fatal. She underwent her 15th brain surgery before we left UT to reroute her shunt tubing into her heart. They we're thinking that the tubing (over the years) had caused so much scar tissue that it was not able to absorb into the body like it should. However, this did not work. Within a week, she looked like she was 8 months pregnant again. She spent another week in Vanderbilt, and they also confirmed she needs to be seen at Mayo Or Cleveland clinics. Brian has never left Kayla's side except for to make sure Myla (daughter) is taken care of, and missed a ton of work because of this and eventually unable to work at all because of her 24/7 needed care. We are getting everything set up to go to Mayo Clinic or Cleveland Clinic and unfortunately this is going to cost a lot of money for travel, food, and expenses. We have no other way of getting this figured out except to ask our friends and family for help. This is extremely hard for me... Even through 15 brain surgeries, I have never had to do anything like this. However, I have to put all my pride aside to figure out what this is to make certain Myla has her mom for many more years to come. This has been the hardest battle we've ever had to endure, and I just cannot live this way anymore. The pain is unbearable and there are so many cancers and "scary things" that need to be ruled out or found and dealt with. Regardless, if you would like to help us, we would greatly appreciate it, and absolutely understand if you can't as well. We love all of you!
