Help Camryn and Kaylee - Our Future Leaders

Donation protected
Hello, my name is Mrs. Luke and I am a teacher at Lift For Life Elementary. I am reaching out to ask for your help in sending two amazing second graders, Camryn and Kaylee, to the Young Leadership Camp at Envision Experience in the summer of 2024.

Last year, Kaylee said, "We might be kids but we can change the world," and I truly believe that both Camryn and Kaylee will do just that. The camp will be a great opportunity for them to learn and focus their leadership skills.

However, we need to raise $7000 for tuition and transportation. Any amount, no matter how small, would make a huge difference. Instead of telling you about them, I am sharing their essays which they wrote for scholarships to help raise funds.

Please help us support these two future leaders and give them the chance to gain valuable leadership skills at the Young Leadership Camp. Thank you for your generosity! I want to be a doctor when I grow up. My great-grandma died from sickness. My Nana had cancer too and had to get a cut in her belly. That is why I want to be a doctor. I want to help people in my job when they are sick. I want to work with kids my age and help them feel better. Little kids who get cancer makes me sad. It makes me sad when they have anything. I will be able to help people twice as a doctor. I can also use my money from being a doctor to donate to charities, especially homeless charities. I enjoy helping the homeless. I really care about the homeless. When we pass them on the street, I always ask my mom if we can help somehow. To become a doctor, I will focus and listen to my teachers in class. I will also do my work and homework, even when I do not want to (which I really do not want to sometimes). I will ask questions when I don’t understand because sometimes it’s confusing. I will work very hard to reach my dream. So being a doctor I will be able to help people twice.

Hello world, my name is Kaylee. I was recently chosen for the Young Scholars program, and I am
very excited. I am also very nervous. But I have a great support system that is there to cheer me on,
along the way. Today I am writing an essay because I wanted to do all I could to make sure that I do not
miss this opportunity. What is an opportunity? Well, I said that an opportunity is a chance for success.
My mom says that it is a set of conditions that makes it possible to do something. I guess it is both. I
wrote this essay so that I could win a scholarship to secure a seat for myself at the Young Scholars
program. And to work on my writing and punctuation, of course. So today, I decided to write about what
I want to be when I grow up.
Over the weekend, I was asked “Kaylee, what do you want to be when you grow up? Or what
career or job do you see yourself doing?”. When my mom asked me this, I looked at her and I had to
think for a little while because I want to be a lot of things when I grow up. I want to be in the Olympics,
so I want to be a gymnast and a dancer. But I also want to be a teacher and the first female president. I
think I just might have a lot of different career choices. That is possible, you know. I don’t really have my
mind made up yet. But I would be happy doing all those things. Just when I thought those questions
were over my mom said, “Well Kaylee, what do those things have in common.” I said, “Mom what do
you mean when you say common.” She said, “what do you think all of those careers have alike?”. This
took me about a day to think about because how is a gymnast like a dancer? And how is a teacher like a
president? All I know is that people look up to them. They also help people. All people of different ages
too. You know like, kids and grown-ups. They are leaders. I also see them on TV all the time and I love
being on tv. So, I just told my mom that and she agreed with me. Since I haven’t made up my mind when
people ask me what I want to be, I just say that I want to be someone that inspires others. Or someone
who has a good impact on others’ lives because that is limitless. Besides, that can be a lot of different
things.
I will accomplish this by first staying focused in school and by helping other people whenever I
can. Sometimes when I don’t know things my mom makes me look it up. So, I must help myself too.
Every day I can become better by staying active, listening, and being open-minded. Open-mindedness is when
you listen to others’ ideas and feelings. Or when you accept new ideas or when you don’t know
something but want to learn new information. As time goes on and I grow older, the world changes. I
would have to keep up with those changes and be open to learning to new things in order to keep up
with everything. This will help me be a great president, teacher, gymnast and dancer. My
mom always says, “it starts with you”. That means I must be nice to others and keep learning, face
challenges, motivate me and NEVER EVER GIVE UP. I was told that every day that I don’t give up is
another day to be successful. Even if things don’t go my way the first time, I can keep practicing and
trying because every effort counts. These are the things I will practice every day to become everything I
want to be when I grow up.
