My name is Gina and I am hoping you can help my brother and his family.
My brother, Pete Minichino and wife Meredith live in Palm Bay, Florida. They have three beautiful daughters, Alyssa 18, Maya 14, and Ryan 9. Pete is a former correctional officer and Meredith is a 911 supervisor in Melbourne.
Here’s my brother story:
In 2012, my stepfather was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer. Pete and Meredith stepped up and took care of him. Whatever was needed they were there.
In 2013, my father was diagnosed with lymphoma. Pete and Meredith each took time off work to care for my dad. Whatever was needed they made sure it was done.
Towards the end of 2019 Pete decided to leave his current career to pursue other adventures. With the nest egg he had built, he would be fine taking the time to build a new career. But within a few months, his plans changed.
In January 2020, our mother was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer. So without hesitation, he and Meredith did what they do best. They took my mom into their home and took care of her. For almost a year and a half Meredith worked overtime throughout the night to keep the household running all while taking care of their three children. Pete spent most days driving to doctor appointments and helping my mom with her basic needs. Money started to get tight and the savings started to dwindle down. He was always positive and knew that as soon as he can work again things will be fine. He never complained about anything. He knew my mom is the most important thing right now and he focused solely on her. Everything will fall into place in due time. Our mother lost her battle with cancer on May 31, 2021.
A few months after my mom’s death Pete received amazing news. He got the job he has been waiting for. Pete has been training for this position for weeks now, and excited to get back on his feet financially. While still mourning the death of my mother, this news of my brother’s career taking off excited the entire family. We really need some good news and Pete and Meredith deserve it.
Now the reason for all of this…..
On January 31, 2022, Exactly 10 months after the death of our mother, my brother Pete was diagnosed with lymphoma. My family is in shock needless to say. How can one family endure anymore. Knowing all that entails with a cancer diagnosis and how financially draining it can be. Pete and Meredith need help. They are very proud people and have always been on the other side with helping people and never needing anything. They are in a really bad spot financially only because they focus their time on others instead of themselves. It took me a minute to convince them to let me help. Pete will not be able to work now which means Meredith will be taking over the financial burden on top of caring for my brother and their children.
I am hoping to raise money to help with the medical bills and living expenses. They can’t do it without help!! Any donation would be appreciated and if you can’t donate a monetary donation, a prayer would do just fine.
Thank you for reading!
Love to all,
Gina
