THIS IS A VERY LONG POST REGARDING OUR DEAR SWEET RACHEL NEWHART MANNING ...
RACHEL NEWHART MANNING is fighting a huge battle and can use our help by praying and helping her out financially.
Rachel had been suffering from what she thought was a sinus headache for about two weeks then on Sunday, February 11, Rachel suffered a seizure and was taken to Tyler Memorial Hospital in Tunkhannock. Upon doing a CT scan, it was shown that she had lesions on her brain. It had swollen and shifted to one side. The CT scan also showed a hemorrhage on one of the lesions.
At this point, Rachel was transferred to Geisinger Wyoming Valley in Wilkes Barre where they performed an in-depth CT scan.
Rachel was awake but confused about some of the things going on around her. She had lost a day and when she tried to write her name, she would stop in the middle of it and couldn't remember the rest of it. She was talking incoherently at times and that added to everyone's anxiety and concern.
Rachel had previously suffered from melanoma cancer a few years ago and had been doing pretty good since then so now the reality that the melanoma had spread to her brain was becoming increasingly real for her and her family.
After hearing of the news and what the plan would be, it was planned to operate and remove the tumor.
On February 14th, Rachel was prepped and taken to surgery. During this delicate operation, the surgeon removed the full tumor from the right frontal lobe.
The surgery went well and Rachel and family were told they had to wait for 2 weeks for the incision to heal before they could begin her treatment.
After the surgery, she had a couple of episode from the swelling in her brain and she was quite tired after …
This is where the story turns into a need for as many prayers as we can offer this beautiful woman, her 3 children, her mom and dad, her 2 sisters, 1 brother and her entire family…
Rachel and her family met with the neurologist and was diagnosed with Melanoma Cancer in her brain…there are 12 tumors that are inoperable besides the one large tumor they had previously removed.
On Friday, February 23, Rachel and her family met with the Oncologists to outline a plan of treatment. Radiation will be done first. They will be calling sometime this week to get that scheduled. She will also be having a PET scan in the near future. Meanwhile, she is waiting on another pathology report to come back to determine whether she will have immunotherapy of chemo therapy.
Melanoma is a VERY AGGRESSIVE CANCER but Rachel is very positive and is ready to FIGHT!!! She is still on seizure medicine as to prevent any further seizures.
The scan of her body also showed it has spread to her adrenal, lungs, pelvic and lower abdoman.
I stopped down the other night with some food for the family because Jenny is taking care of her sweet daughter and keeping up with the rest of the family. I sat and talked with Rachel, Jenny, Nikki, and Erica….talk about a positive, upbeat crew. We giggled, we laughed, we cried, we hugged but most of all we all know we need to support dear, sweet Rachel.
Rachel has suffered from thrush because of some of the meds and couldn't eat food at this point but we hope each day gets better for her.
BUT BUT BUT This girl is ready to fight so we need to rally around her and help her in this fight. I am asking for prayers, I'm asking to support Rachel in her fight financially.
As you all know, money should not have to be part of this process when dealing with such devastation but it is a reality. So I asked Rachel and her family if I could set up a GO FUND ME account to help Rachel and her daughter, Mattie (she will be 16 years old this year) as they struggle to come to grips with the reality of what will be their routine now.
Please help in any way you can but also drop a line on this update so that Rachel and her family can see what a great group of supporters they have for their upcoming FIGHT!!!
Rachel's parents are Rusty and Jenny Newhart and have raised a wonderful family that is all working together to make sure Rachel is not alone in her battle!
Rachel has two sons, Dalton Manning and Troy Newhart, along with her sweet daughter Mattie Manning...please pray for this loving family <3
Rachel Manning, you are such a positive, sweet lady....keep smiling because so many of us love and support you!
