Please help Raul keep the home for his 7 siblings
Donation protected
Please meet Raul Acosta. At the age of 21, Raul became the legal guardian and conservator of his seven brothers and sisters, ages 3 to 16. Raul’s mother, Perla, died when Raul was 18. Perla’s boyfriend (and father of the seven siblings) died when Raul was 21. There were no family members willing to take on the responsibilities of seven kids, so Raul did what he needed to do to keep his family together and out of foster care.
Raul and the children continued to live in the house that Perla owned at the time of her death. Although Raul struggled to raise the children and pay the mortgage, he was able to do so until his job as a tow truck driver reduced his hours during COVID-19. As a result, Raul got behind on the mortgage payments and the bank discovered Perla had passed away. They have been threatened with foreclosure and need to pay the amount of $13,728.40, in full, by May 6, 2022.
I started this GoFundMe because so many asked how they could help after hearing this family’s story. A colleague of mine has been volunteering her legal services to this family for five years and when she learned that the family was in danger of losing their home, she asked the local legal community for help. The response has been overwhelming.
Raul’s volunteer attorney and her colleagues are doing what they can to prevent the foreclosure and to help the family obtain title to the house so they can refinance or sell it on their own. This family needs help right away. Raul has been an adult since he was a kid, shouldering massive responsibilities with very little resources. Any money collected through the GoFundMe will be used to pay the family’s bills, such as food, housing, electricity, gas, and clothing, and if there is enough, to purchase a reliable vehicle that would enable Raul to find more stable work. If the family loses their home to foreclosure, any money collected through the GoFundMe will be used to pay for a safe place for this family to live.
Raul has had enough worries in his 26 years to last a lifetime. If you can lighten his load by sharing this link with friends and family and if possible, in giving (any amount will help), it will make a huge difference.
Thank you very much for your support.
