Hey everyone, I'm Lucas, and I urgently need your help. Right now, my home state of Rio Grande do Sul in Brazil is facing the worst natural disaster ever. Floodwaters have engulfed multiple cities, leaving more than 844,673 people (05/05/2024 - CNN Brasil) in desperate need across 334 municipalities (the state has 496 municipalities in total), including Porto Alegre (my home town).
Regarding the homeless who completely lost their homes, the number is greather than 18,000 already. There are now 115,844 people temporarily homeless and this number is increasing every hour.
People are dying, others are missing, and the situation is chaotic. Public entities are doing what they can, but it's not enough. Many civilians are stepping up as volunteers, but the scale of this crisis requires more support.
That's why I'm launching this crowdfunding campaign — because we need more help.
Those who are rescued are being brought to shelters set up in city sports clubs, schools, and other facilities.
Every penny we raise will go directly to organizations and individuals on the ground in Rio Grande do Sul. We'll use the money to provide essentials like mattresses, bedding, food, diapers, and water to those who've lost everything.

Part of the funds will also support local heroes like Deise Falci, who's rescuing stranded animals left behind.

The money will be sent to my Revolut account and then to my personal bank account (Lucas’s account) in Brazil then split and send to our collaborators and people working on the frontline in Porto Alegre - Rio Grande do Sul.
The donations will be used to buy supplies and to support the rescues.
