Please help save my pup, a piece of my soul, Zuma

My name is Malina. This is not easy for me, but there’s nothing I won’t do to try to save my doggy.

Montezuma is a 14 year old chihuahua-papillon mix. I’ve had him since he was a tiny pup that could fit in my coat pocket. He got me through high school, college, my 20s, several moves, many heartbreaks, and many joyful moments. Now it’s my turn to get him through. He’s provided love and entertainment to every human he’s encountered. The friendliest (but silliest) chi-chi. He likes to play with the big dogs in the dog park, and he really really REALLY likes peanut butter.

He is a part of me. I truly don’t know how else to describe it, one of the first things anyone finds out about me is about my chihuahua Zoom Zoom. I know we only have our furry friends for a short time, but he’s got some fight in him. As long as he’s fighting, I’m gonna fight.

I am happy to provide detail about his medical story and how we got here to anyone who asks, but the long and short of it is that he has a mass in his spleen that is causing tremendous pain, urinary incontinence, and fatigue. Because of the risk of rupture, he needs a splenectomy ASAP. The estimate I have received is from $3,300 to $4200. I can cover some of the cost but I am asking, PLEADING, for help to cover the rest. I can also provide copies of the estimate for those who require it.

Please, I know we are all struggling post pandemic, but anything helps. He deserves a chance to live. He WANTS to live, I can see it in his huge cartoon eyes.

UPDATE:

Zuma was scheduled to undergo surgery on Friday, 7/7. Unfortunately, when he was examined before the surgery, he was found to be in congestive heart failure and transferred to an emergency vet at the surgeons suggestion. The situation was very grim and I have been beside myself. However, the emergency vet has been able to stabilize him and we are hoping that surgery will happen this week. Due to all of these changes in the different location of the surgery the cost of his care has been estimated to be between $10 ,000 and $12,000.

I am so incredibly grateful for everyone’s donations and prayers and well wishes because of the increased cost of his care. I am increasing the goal from $2500 to $5000 but I understand that everyone has already been so generous.

I truly don’t have words to thank everyone for their generosity, and for the kindness that I have been shown. Please just continue to hold us in your heart and root for our little guy.
